What is a joint?
Joints are amazing things! A joint is where two or more bones meet. Together with the muscles, tendons, and ligaments surrounding them, joints allow us to move, dance, work out at the gym, go for a run, and more. Joints are also supported by bursae (little pillows that cushion the joint and help to decrease friction), and cartilage. Our main joints have articular cartilage at the ends of bones, helping the two (or more) bones to glide smoothly against each other as the joint bends. Some joints even have additional cartilage for extra shock absorption, like the menisci in the knees.
How can we support joint health?
Warming up before exercise, and a gradual buildup of activity (vs. being a weekend warrior) can help to prevent injuries and support joint health. A nutritious diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, protein, and healthy fats can help to support healthy joint function. The recommended doses for NutraMedix products are intended for an average size adult that weighs between 120-170 pounds. For children 4 and older, for every 30 pounds, a fourth of the dose is recommended.
